Take Action:  Let the Board of Education Know Our Schools Matter!

A few days ago the superintendent released his recommendations for the MCPS Capital Improvement Plan CIP. This includes all additions, expansions, and revitalizations. There was a recommendation in last year's CIP that Eastern MS have a revitalization and expansion to be completed in time for the start of the 2022-2023 school  year. That is no longer the case. The revitalization and expansion program is under review, and therefore a proposed date for the revitalization and expansion of Eastern MS will not be determined until the review process is completed. A date has not been given for the completion of this review process.

On Monday, November 6th at 6:30 PM, come hear Downcounty parents and Cluster Coordinators testify on behalf of our school and all of the schools in the Montgomery Blair HS cluster. Please wear red to represent the Blair Cluster. The testimony will take place at the Board of Education at 850 Hungerford Drive in Rockville.

Other areas of the county come out in force to these testimony evenings - we need to be seen and heard, or we risk being overlooked!

Pine Crest Field Closing for 2017-18.

At a May meeting, County Parks and Planning architects discussed with the MKPC community plans to use the wooded area adjacent to Pine Crest as a temporary recess field; smaller trees will likely be removed and the grounds made safe for the students. Meanwhile, the entire field at Pine Crest Park, where students currently enjoy recess, will be closed for renovations starting this summer. The field may be closed for a year before all park renovations are complete.
